We all have gotten into these embarrassing situations, here’s how you can escape the embarrassment

Life is full of awkward situations that leave us with burning cheeks of embarrassment and blank minds, even after following the basic rules of etiquette most times. You can’t get a conversation started, you don’t know how to answer certain questions, or the things you say come out wrong. Now neither of you know how to react.

You both walk away feeling embarrassed. Don’t let awkward moments ruin your relationships. Here’s how to handle a few of the most cringe-worthy situations

  • Forgetting someone’s name

We’ve all been there- you meet a bunch of people, and ten minutes later you forget a few names. This definitely puts one in an embarrassing situation, and it is worse when they remember your name, but you don’t remember theirs. While you might wanna remember their name for the next time, there are a few things you can do to escape the awkwardness at hand- if you’re at a professional meeting, you could ask for their business card; if not, you could easily ask them how to spell their name.

  • Accidentally insulting someone

If you’ve ever sent a text or email to the wrong person that included a less than positive opinion of the person who just received it, you know the definition of awkward. While you’re probably considering disappearing from social media, or blocking that person, it isn’t the best idea. Talking about the problem is the solution you wanna adopt. It’ll bring clarity to the relationship, and would make you feel a little less guilty too.

  • Getting out of an awkward situation

It happens a lot- you’re at a party, or a conference, or on the phone with someone and neither of you knows what to say, or you’re bored by what they’re saying. If you’re at a party, try to excuse yourself to grab a drink, or to use the washroom. If you’re on the phone, try saying that you’re busy or have some work, and that you’ll talk to them later to save yourself the embarrassment. But everyone wants to have an interesting conversation, and so you might wanna be better prepared for such situations, by having a few topics at hand, or a humorous incident to share.
